A Private Viewing
The three paintings on view were inspired by the artist's visit to the "Arts and Armor" section in the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Amongst other impressions, the artist pondered on the encumbering weight that a warrior carried to war; instantly relating to the emotional, physical and mental pressures we carry in our day today life.
The difference accessories gave each of Yahya's work its own identity. One cannot help but notice how Yahya toned down the accessories and ornaments as if to challenge the viewer in recognizing the wisdom and beauty in simplifying the weights we carry with us.
