Zaid Shawwa | About

I was born in Amman, Jordan, in 1978. I studied Engineering, but I have always been active in the art field until I took art as a profession in 2014. I think of myself as an observer of life and humanity, a documenter of feelings, atmospheres, and behaviors. Everyday life is the foundation on which I build my work.

The relationship between humans and their surroundings, encounters, and associations inspires my work and allows me to open the viewer’s horizon for imagination and intrigue.

I use various mediums in my work, including drawing on paper, painting, object making, and artist books. Each piece starts with extensive sketch studies to create an image that best reflects the idea and the feeling I want to address. I then build and manipulate the elements to create a dramatic setup, a moment captured as a continuum and expressed within the boundaries of my medium.
